On Friday, it was announced that Philadelphia Eagles’ center Jason Kelce has become the highest-paid center in the NFL. The news comes one day after Kelce stated he would be returning for the 2022 season.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Kelce’s new contract is a one-year deal worth approximately $14 million. It can increase to $14.5 million with incentives. The highest-paid center was Lion’ Frank Ragnow until Kelce’s deal was finalized today. Ragnow made $13.5 million.
The money will be well spent. Kelce is one of Philadelphia’s best players. In 17 games, he allowed just one sack. This past season he was named to First-Team All-Pro for the fourth time. He was also selected for the Pro Bowl for the fifth time (third consecutive). Entering his 12th season with the Eagles, the 34-year-old will continue building upon his 122 consecutive start streak.
The Eagles have one of the best offensive lines in the league. Kelce’s return will solidify a dominate force in Philadelphia.
