Miles Sanders fantasy outlook can become a bit complicated if you look at what he did last season. He started the 2021 NFL season playing 60-83% of snaps in the first six games but only averaging 9.5 rushing attempts per game. Immediatley after the Eagles coaching staff finally realized this is a run-first offense Sanders had an ankle injury that landed him on the IR.
However, coming into this season without Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders is the legitimate starting running back on the 2022 Eagles depth chart. The Eagles also have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL and the Eagles 2022 schedule is a very, very easy one. But despite seeing 23 touches inside the 20 last season, he failed to get into the endzone.
What does this mean for 2022? He has to deal with Hurts and Gainwell who could take away his touches hurting his fantasy value. But, adding AJ Brown to the Eagles roster could also open up the run game for Sanders. No one really knows what Miles Sanders fantasy value will be.
We can only speculate…
Miles Sanders Fantasy: Rankings & Value
According to various NFL rankings, Miles Sanders ranks as #19 (approximately) overall running back in the NFL.
As with other player rankings, this doesn’t mean a whole lot. The ranking was based on a year full of injuries and play calls made by a first-year head coach. Sanders also had to compete for touches with Jordan Howard last season as well. Yes, Sanders still has to compete with touches by fellow RB Kenneth Gainwell and QB Jalen Hurts, but if he stays relatively healthy the numbers should improve greatly from last season.
But this is a contract year for Miles Sanders, and he intends on proving the doubters wrong. With that said, Sanders is going into this year more motivated than ever.
“I’m taking this year a little personal,” he said. “The type of year I had last year, I was nowhere near satisfied with how I played or my availability. All that stuff means a lot to me.
“Being a top guy in the running back room, I have to hold the standard and keep going with that standard, and that’s being healthy and being able to produce.”
