Retirement rumors regarding one of Philadelphia’s best players can be put to rest for at least another season. Today, center Jason Kelce announced he will return for 2022.
“I’m definitely not retiring from playing for the Philadelphia Eagles,” Kelce said. “I’m having way too much fun doing that. I’m looking forward to another year, Philadelphia. And to all my teammates, let’s go dominate.”
The Eagles posted the announcement via a video on social media, featuring Kelce drinking beer from a keg. Maybe the same keg head coach Nick Sirianni sent Kelce convincing the All-Pro to stay?

Selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, the 2022 season will be Kelce’s 12th year with Philadelphia. As one of the city’s favorite players, the center has also become one of the best in the league. This past season, Kelce was the Eagles’ nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. Additionally, he earned All-Pro for the fourth time and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the fifth time.
After starting in 122 consecutive games, Kelce will have the opportunity to extend that streak. He is under contract for a base salary of $1.5 million with a cap number of $6.49 million. Kelce will return to a stacked offensive line, including Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Isaac Seumalo, and Jack Driscoll.
