On Monday, March 23, the Philadelphia Eagles claimed cornerback Jimmy Moreland off of waivers. Moreland is a former Houston Texan. To make room for him on the 90-man roster, the Eagles released linebacker Joe Ostman.
The news regarding Moreland comes one week after Philadelphia signed former New York Giants’ cornerback James Bradberry.

ADDING ANOTHER CORNERBACK: JIMMY MORELAND JOINS THE EAGLES
The then Washington Redskins drafted Jimmy Moreland in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, he had 42 combined tackles, finishing the season with a foot injury.
In 2020, he recorded his first career interception in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, adding another 44 tackles and 0.5 sack to his log. Washington waived Moreland in 2021. The Houston Texans claimed him; however, he only finished with two total tackles during his time there.
On May 20, the Texans waived Moreland. The Eagles claimed him today. He will now join a crowded cornerback group, including Darius Slay, James Bradberry, Avonte Maddox, Zech McPhearson, Tay Gowan, Kary Vincent, Josiah Scott, Mac McCain III, and Craig James.
The advantage, however, is that Moreland saw time on social teams, bringing his experience to Philadelphia.
To make room for the 26-year-old cornerback, Philadelphia released linebacker Joe Ostman.
Ostman signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He’s suffered multiple injuries and has seen very little playing time, recording only one tackle.
