With the Philadelphia Eagles about to take on the Dallas Cowboys in what should be a heated Monday Night Football battle, let’s see what the Iggles.com writers have to predict. Will the Eagles win their third game of the season and stay in the division lead, or will Dallas sneak out a victory in Jerry Land?
EAGLES-COWBOYS PREDICTIONS
Drew’s Pick: Eagles, 28-24
I love the Eagles in this one. I think the team comes out similar fashion to how they did against the Falcons in Week 1: feeling confident and poised, which will show in their performance.
I predict a three touchdown performance from Jalen Hurts (two throwing, one rushing), along with a 100+ yards, one-touchdown game from DeVonta Smith. Miles Sanders and Quez Watkins both get their first touchdowns of the season.
However, be prepared for a shootout, as the Eagles won’t keep up the streak of solid performances on the other side of the ball. Dak Prescott probably tears the Eagles secondary up with the help of either Amari Cooper or CeeDee Lamb. Ezekiel Elliott won’t run all over the Eagles, but he does put up a decent amount of yardage.
Ultimately, I think the defense will put together a crucial stop or two- perhaps in the form of a timely fumble or interception- that will help the Eagles prevail with the win. They remain on top of the NFC East for another week.
Alicia’s Pick: Eagles, 21-17
I’ve been going back and forth with this prediction all day. The Eagles started the 2021 season off fresh against the Atlanta Falcons, then finished last week with a game full of mistakes. I think everyone took responsibility for their mishaps against the San Francisco 49ers and after rolling back the tapes, we’ll see a more polished performance tonight.
Hurts will have to get the ball out faster as left tackle Jordan Mailata and right guard Brandon Brooks are out with injuries. This will weaken the offensive line quite a bit, as the Eagles will have to adjust accordingly.
The defense will also take a hit after they lost Brandon Graham last week to an Achilles injury. Rodney McLeod will now miss three consecutive games.
All-in-all, I predict Hurts will go long again for three passing touchdowns. The receivers will have to put their best foot forward and make up for last week. I think tonight will showcase DeVonta Smith. Zach Ertz is also activated from the COVID-19 list.
