Lane Johnson among inactives for Eagles-Chiefs

Posted on October 3, 2021

The Eagles announced their inactives for Sunday’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, and there’s a major surprise: right tackle Lane Johnson will not be suiting up.

Below are the full list of inactives:

  • RT Lane Johnson
  • QB Gardner Minshew
  • CB Mac McCain
  • LT Jordan Mailata
  • DT Marlon Tuipulotou.

According to the team, Lane Johnson’s absence is not injury related, but due to a personal matter. That’s obviously a huge relief, as a long-term injury would be a major blow to a team that’s already suffering heavy losses when it comes to the offensive line:

Jack Driscoll Will Be Stepping Up In Place of Johnson At RT

Jack Driscoll, who was just activated from the Injured Reserve, will be getting the start for Johnson against KC. That’s a big downgrade, especially against a juggernaut that will be gunning for a victory after starting the season 1-2.

Driscoll appeared in 11 games last season, with four starts due to Johnson going through injuries. He had just one penalty (a false start) in 300 snaps, but did allow two sacks in that amount of playing time.

Driscoll will look to help protect Jalen Hurts as the Eagles try and improve their offense after last week’s incredibly painful dud.
