Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles succumbed to the San Francisco 49ers, 17-11. Rather than losing to their opponent, the team actually lost to themselves.
After numerous mistakes made by several players, one stood out among the pact. Following Week 2, Pro Football Focus graded Jordan Mailata as the highest offensive lineman. The new starting left tackle scored 91.2.
During Sunday’s game, he didn’t allow a single pressure (in 31 pass-blocking snaps), shutting down one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL, Nick Bosa. Mailata also allowed zero quarterback hits and zero sacks, pulling out a perfect solo game.
Just before the start of the 2021-2022 season, Mailata won the left tackle position ahead of former first-round pick Andre Dillard. He had an impressive training camp, earning a four-year $64 million contract extension. Labeled as a “secret superstar,” the former rugby player has already proven his worth in Philadelphia.
The excitement surrounding Mailata continues next Monday. He and the Eagles will meet their first NFC East matchup, the Dallas Cowboys on September 27 at 8:15 PM.
