UPDATE: After Ertz underwent further testing on Monday, it was confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.
—————————————————————————————————————————
In his first full season with the Arizona Cardinals, former Eagles’ tight end Zach Ertz has been having a pretty successful year so far. But, that will come to a halt after sustaining an injury during the team’s Week 10 game.
Ertz will now miss multiple weeks as he awaits further information.
ZACH ERTZ OUT WITH INJURY
On Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals played the Los Angeles Rams. During the Cardinals’ opening drive, Zach Ertz injured his knee. He was carted off the field and emotionally entered the locker room. After the tight end’s initial examination, it was reported that his ACL appears to be intact.
After the Cardinals’ 27-17 victory, Ertz was seen on the sideline in a knee brace. He is expected to miss multiple weeks and is awaiting an MRI today.
Before Ertz left the game, he made one catch for 12 yards. He now has 47 receptions, ranking second among tight ends. This season he has completed 406 receiving yards and four touchdowns. In his absence, rookie Trey McBride will likely see a lot of playing time. This season, McBride has completed four catches.
The Eagles likely won’t see Ertz again this season as the team already played the Cardinals, and Arizona is not currently a part of the playoff picture. The Cardinals won’t play again until next Monday, November 21, when they are scheduled to face off against the San Francisco 49ers.
