Before the 2022-2023 season began, the Green Bay Packers were predicted to be one of Philadelphia’s toughest competitors. However, Aaron Rodgers and his once Super Bowl winning team are now 4-7, and are on the outside looking in for the playoffs.
After ruining their winning streak to the Washington Commanders, the Eagles had a close call last week on the road. But, Philadelphia is now home for Week 12, hoping to improve their record to 10-1.
Ranked second in the NFL, can the Eagles continue to remain elite?
EAGLES VS. PACKERS
Philadelphia Eagles
MVP candidate Jalen Hurts has been keeping the Eagles alive with his dual-threat talent. However, he had to pull out a lot of stops last week, after the offense fell short. According to ESPN, Philadelphia’s offense is ranked third, but is without tight end Dallas Goedert for the next few weeks. Offensive coordinator Shane Steichen will have to find a happy medium with the Batman trio, taking some pressure off of Hurts’ legs come Sunday.
Despite being ranked fourth on defense, Jonathan Gannon’s bunch hasn’t been very consistent. They will have to plan to stop the run game, as it will likely be the Packers’ plan of attack. Without Jordan Davis who has been a powerhouse, the Eagles recently added Ndamukong Suh and Linval Joseph who will hopefully fill the gaps.
Philadelphia’s downfall has been special teams, who rank 22nd. It’s likely that Britain Covey won’t be around next season, as he is averaging just 6.1 yards per return.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers have lost six of their last seven games, scoring only 12.2 points on offense when they play on the road. Unfortunately, they haven’t had a good passing attack this season without Davante Adams, so it’s likely their run game will be strong with Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will also be playing with a broken thumb, which he’s had since Week 5.
The defense hasn’t been very thrilling given their absence of Za’Darius Smith. They are also missing De’Vondre Campbell and Quay Walker to injuries. Green Bay has allowed 27+ points in their last five games, ranking 24th in run defense.
WEEK 12 PREDICTIONS
As bad as the Packers are doing this season, you can’t count them out. I think similar to last week, it is going to be a close call for the Eagles. However, the energy at the Linc can’t be discredited as the team will play primetime.
The Eagles are on a mission to not only take over the NFC, but to bring Philadelphia another Super Bowl win. Despite the critics constantly bringing down the Eagles, the team can only win against the teams they play against and Philadelphia will pull off another win.
Prediction: Eagles, 28-24
Kickoff begins at 8:20 PM on Sunday, November 27.
