A day after losing C.J. Gardner-Johnson to free agency, the Eagles signed a free agent safety of their own.
Saints free agent Justin Evans agreed to a one-year deal with the Eagles on Monday, according to NFL Network.
Evans’ playing history has been spotty.
Evans, 27, was a 2017 second-round pick (50th overall) by the Bucs. He played collegiately at Texas A&M. He had 66 tackles, six pass deflections, and three interceptions in 14 games and 11 starts for the Bucs.
He missed three seasons — 2019 and 2020 because of an Achilles’ injury, and he didn’t latch on with another team in 2021 after the Bucs waived him in 2020.
He returned last season with New Orleans. He played in 15 games, starting four. He had 29 tackles, two passes defended and a forced fumble.
