It would make sense that the Philadelphia Eagles outperform their 2021 season this year. Their roster is a mix of youth and experience, they’ve spent their cap space wisely, and they’ve remained relatively healthy. Though their training camp has seen its share of issues, the Eagles have all the makings of a successful team. The question remains, can they put all those makings together?
Former Eagles’ player LeSean McCoy thinks so. Recently on NFL Network’s flagship show, Total Access, McCoy stated that he believes the Eagles are Super Bowl bound.

The ex-running back stated, “They’re [Eagles] my Super Bowl pick. The Eagles and the Bills. I’m calling that right now. The City of Philadelphia, right, it’s all on the shoulders of Jalen Hurts. If he can just be solid, right, safe with the ball, no turnovers, make the right reads, stay in the pocket a little bit longer…”
He continued, “I feel confident. And I’m saying that right now. Not only the NFC East. That’s easy. That’s easy work.”
“I’m going for the Super Bowl.”
CAN THE EAGLES MAKE IT TO THE SUPER BOWL?
Fans can’t take what McCoy said too seriously; after all, he did choose both of his former teams.
However, the reality is, the Bills are projected to have another great season and are looking for a comeback after falling short last year. In fact, they have the greatest odds when it comes to making it to the big game (+550). As for the Eagles, we’ve learned you can’t always rule out the underdog.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the following odds have been made for Philadelphia:
- NFC East: +150
- NFC Championship: +1000
- Super Bowl: +2200
Though Philadelphia has identical odds with the Dallas Cowboys to take the NFC East, the Cowboys haven’t made signifiant upgrades this offseason. Dallas is also heading into 2022 without Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson, as well as an unlikely start for Michael Gallup who is on the PUP list.
With another likely playoff run, the Eagles wouldn’t be too far off. During the 2017-2018 season, Philadelphia’s Super Bowl odds were +4000, as the team took it all the way to the finale for the franchise’s first-ever win.
Now cutting those chances by (almost) half, anything is possible. Philadelphia’s +2200 odds are the 12th best in the league and Sportsnaut.com is calling the Eagles “an ascending contender”.
Time will tell. The Eagles’ regular-season begins on Sunday, September 11 on the road, against the Detroit Lions.
