On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Vikings’ defensive end Janarius Robinson, ahead of their Week 2 game against Minnesota.
The move comes a few days after they placed Derek Barnett on injured reserve after he tore his ACL in Philadelphia’s Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions.
Janarius Robinson will now join fellow defensive ends, Brandon Graham, Josh Sweat, and Tarron Jackson.
EAGLES SIGN JANARIUS ROBINSON
Robinson was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings last season in the fourth round; however, he has yet to play in the NFL. His rookie season ended early after he was placed on injured reserve. In the 2022 offseason, he was then signed to the practice squad after final roster cuts were made.
His last game was as a college senior, but he was so good, that critics still consider him a physical specimen. In his last season, he totaled 48 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, and three sacks. He’s fast and has the ability to run after the opposing offense, but also comes with massive size (6-foot-5, 266 pounds) to make an impact.
Yesterday, the Eagles added him to their 53-man roster, after they placed Derek Barnett on the injured reserve list.
Robinson will now face his prior team come Monday night, but it’s unlikely he will actually play. Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat will start with Tarron Jackson likely taking over for Derek Barnett if needed.
The Eagles take on the Vikings during Monday Night Football, with kickoff at 8:30 PM.
