Week 8 will bring a battle to the state of Pennsylvania.
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off their bye week as they hope to remain undefeated against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Scheduled to play at Lincoln Financial Field, the Steelers who are 2-5 for the 2022 season will have a difficult time against the Eagles who have been well-rounded this year.
But, as Philly fans know, you can’t rule out the underdog, so who wins on Sunday?
EAGLES VS. STEELERS
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the best teams on both sides of the ball this season. Both the offense and the defense are in the top-five in the league, as the Eagles sit at No. 2 overall behind the Buffalo Bills.
Despite the second-quarter being their most successful, the Eagles still rank fourth in points scored per game. They also give up the sixth-fewest points per game, which will make it difficult for Pittsburgh to see the end zone.
On Wednesday, the team also added another weapon to their defense. In exchange for a fourth-round 2023 draft pick, the Eagles traded Chicago for edge rusher Robert Quinn. The former Bears’ player will stand amongst massive assets to Philadelphia’s D-line, including Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, and Javon Hargrave.
Philadelphia has emerged as a strong Super Bowl contender, and better yet, they are coming off a bye week, so they should be more than prepared to take on Sunday’s game.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Both games the Steelers have won this season have been by three points or less. Not impressive.
Though it’ll take some time for quarterback Kenny Pickett to find his way over the course of the season, Pittsburgh’s switch at the position hasn’t improved much. In seven games, Pickett has finished with 771 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, which has added up to an average of just 14.4 points per game.
Pittsburgh’s defense is the better half of the team, but they still aren’t outstanding. They have allowed 72 points over the last seven games, averaging 24 points per game. They are also ranked 29th in most passing yards per game (275.4), giving Jalen Hurts a huge opportunity to show fans what he’s worked on all offseason.
WEEK 8 PREDICTIONS
The last time both Pennsylvania teams met in October 2020, the Steelers took the win, but it’s unlikely to happen two consecutive times. The Eagles’ talent, plus their rest from bye week, and their undefeated record makes for the perfect recipe.
According to FanDuel, the Eagles are favored by 10.5 points, so it’s no surprise that I think Philadelphia will go 7-0 after Week 8.
Prediction: Eagles, 34-13
Kickoff is at 1 PM on Sunday, October 30.
