The official 2022 NFL schedule is set to be released on Thursday, May 12, however, the league has chosen a select few to announce early. Among them is the Philadelphia Eagles who will play against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. The game will be played during Monday Night Football and will be the Eagles’ season home opener.
- Philadelphia will play the second game on Monday, September 19 at 8:30 PM.
- The first game of the doubleheaders will be the Tennessee Titans at the Buffalo Bills, beginning at 7:15 PM.
EAGLES HOME OPENER
Both the Eagles and the Vikings finished their 2021 season with a similar record (Eagles, 9-8 and Vikings, 8-9), placing second in their division. The Vikings, however, did not advance to the playoffs.
Since 1962, they have faced off against each other 29 times, with the Vikings winning 15 of those games. Their most recent matchup was in 2019.
Their upcoming Monday Night Football game will be the first time Justin Jefferson will play against the Eagles since Howie Roseman passed on him. Instead, Philadelphia selected wide receiver Jalen Reagor. Over the last two seasons, Reagor has completed 64 receptions for 695 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
With the Eagles’ newest addition of wide receiver AJ Brown, it remains questionable as to how Reagor will fit in.
- For comparison, Jefferson has completed 196 receptions for 3,016 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.
The remainder of the Philadelphia Eagles 2022 schedule will be released Thursday, including dates and times.
