Updated: A slew of injuries impact Eagles vs. Jaguars matchup

Posted on October 2, 2022

Update: After halftime, both Darius Slay and Jordan Mailata are back on the sidelines. Mailata was seen practicing, but Driscoll still remains in the game.

In the third quarter, Eagles’ wide receiver DeVonta Smith was also injured. He was taken to the medical tent. Smith has completed two receptions for ten yards. Linebacker Patrick Johnson has also been downgraded to out for the remainder of the game.

With seconds to spare before the fourth quarter, kicker Jake Elliott was also injured when the opposing defense roughed the kicker. Elliott’s successful field goal was taken off the board, and the Eagles began at first down. Elliott is said to return.

Minutes later, right guard Isaac Seumalo was injured, holding his ankle. It appeared that Landon Dickerson stepped on him. Seumalo suffered a season-ending injury in 2021, when he played on the left. Sua Opeta will now take Seumalo’s place. He remains questionable to return to the game.

Smith has returned to the field.

Following the game, it was reported that Mailata will undergo testing tomorrow. Slay told reporters that he was “good”. There remains no word on Johnson or Seumalo.

The undefeated Philadelphia Eagles might be in some trouble.

In the first quarter of their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, cornerback Darius Slay and left tackle Jordan Mailata were injured.

EAGLES INJURIES

Darius Slay suffered a forearm injury first, making his way to the locker room. Entering the game for him is Zech McPhearson.

The injury occurred after a collision with a teammate. He is set to undergo x-rays.

Shortly after, Jordan Mailata suffered a shoulder injury in an attempt to make a tackle on a Jalen Hurts interception. The left tackle failed to make the stop and the Jaguars scored their first touchdown of the game, leading 7-0. Jack Driscoll took Mailata’s place on the field.

Both players remain questionable to return to the game.

The Eagles are also without running back Boston Scott and cornerback Avonte Maddox who were both ruled out prior to the game.

The game currently stands with the Jaguars leading, 14-7 in the second quarter, after Jalen Hurts run to get Philadelphia on the board.
