Eagles’ Brandon Graham recognized for Week 3 performance

Posted on September 29, 2022

For the third consecutive week a Philadelphia Eagles’ player has been named NFC Player of the Week. This week — defensive end and fan-favorite, Brandon Graham earned the title.

Graham was recognized after his Week 3 performance against former Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz and the Washington Commanders.

BRANDON GRAHAM’S DOMINANT RETURN

This season, Graham already made it further than he did in 2021. In Week 2, the 34-year-old suffered a season-ending Achilles injury against the San Francisco 49ers. Cheering his team on from home, fans thought they may see a retirement from Graham, but the defensive end had other things in mind.

Now as the longest-tenured athlete in Philadelphia, Graham has returned for his thirteenth season. And, some would say he returned even better.

Besides having a successful training camp, Graham has also improved during each week of 2022. This past Sunday, he finished with a season-high six tackles, 2.5 sacks, two tackles for a loss, a pass defended, and one forced fumble. Pro Football Focus has given him a 78.1 grade thus far.

This is his first career defensive player of the week award. Before Graham earned his NFC recognition, safety Marcus Epps and cornerback Darius Slay were named defensive player of the week in Weeks 1 and 2, respectively. Quarterback Jalen Hurts also earned NFC Player of the Month for September.

Overall, Graham has 425 total tackles and 62 sacks. He will be looking to build upon that in Week 4 when the Eagles take on former head coach Doug Pederson. Kick-off begins at 1 PM at Lincoln Financial Field.
