Road Trip! Here are This Season’s Best Away Games for Eagles Fans

Posted on May 23, 2022

Fly, Eagles fly… Or maybe you can drive.

With another Philadelphia Eagles football season fast approaching, it’s the perfect time to consider one of America’s great traditions – the Eagles road trip. The Philadelphia Eagles have nine home games and eight away games on the 2022 schedule.

So that means loyal fans of the Birds have eight opportunities for a football-themed Eagles road trip this fall. Grab a buddy. Pack a cooler. And hit the road.

But what games should you go to? That’s where we come in. Here are the Iggles.com official rankings for Eagles road trip destinations this season.

1. Glendale, Arizona: Eagles @ Cardinals, Oct. 9th

This one’s a no-brainer. Just as the temperatures start to drop on the East Coast, you can travel across the country to bask in the warmth of the West. There’s also the potential for a pretty good football game. DraftKings Sportsbook currently has the Cardinals as two-point favorites. The Eagles are +110 on the moneyline. This game also gets bonus points for being played in a dome. You can watch the Eagles without any worry about the elements getting in the way. And if you’d like to parlay the game with some scenery, the Grand Canyon is just a few hours away.

2. Indianapolis, Indiana: Eagles @ Colts, November 20th

This game and this team might not have the same sizzle as Arizona, but there’s a lot to like. The Colts should be much improved with Matt Ryan under center and the city outside the stadium is highly underrated. There’s actually a canal just a few miles from downtown Indy and the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway isn’t far from the stadium either. If you need a good place to eat, St. Elmo’s Steakhouse (located downtown) was a favorite spot for former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

On the field, DraftKings has the Eagles as 3-point underdogs with a moneyline price of +125. And if you overindulge on your trip, Thanksgiving follows just a few days later (November 24th), making it a short work week to stumble through.

3. Detroit, Michigan: Eagles @ Lions, September 11th

Okay, hear me out. Detroit isn’t going to win any tourism awards anytime soon. But this trip is about football more than anything else. It’s the first Eagles game of the season. By then, you’ll be starving for your Iggles. And Philly is favored to win, currently listed as 4-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook. Factor in the climate-controlled dome of Ford Field and you can guarantee yourself a comfortable start to the Eagles season. So put some Eminem on a playlist and give Detroit a chance. And if you prefer some older music, check out the Motown Museum where legends like Marvin Gaye once recorded their hits.

Honorable mention: Arlington, Texas: Eagles @ Cowboys, 12/24

This trip is tempting merely because Philadelphia’s weather might be miserable by December and the opulent AT&T Stadium is worth a visit. But one hiccup with the flight plans and you’re stuck with some Cowboys fans on Christmas.

We wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

So the risk simply isn’t worth it. Go somewhere else instead.

Fly Eagles, fly. Or drive.

But don’t miss your chance for an epic road trip.
