To some, Carson Wentz is still “our guy,” but how did it go so wrong so fast? It all started with a quote from former Green Bay Packers QB, Brett Favre…
“I think [Wentz] is very capable,” Favre said, via Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal. “I think we’re all in agreement that he has the tools. I actually thought they should have kept Nick Foles rather than Carson Wentz, just based off of the production and where they got to.”
When Doug Pederson was asked about the quote he never stated he disagreed with Favre, even though he was given multiple chances to do so.
“I respect Brett’s opinion,” Pederson said, via Frank. “We are friends. I haven’t talked to him, and he’s entitled to that, and that’s about it.”
And that was the beginning of the end in the Eagles Wentz relationship. Then, the Philadelphia Eagles failed to put talent around Wentz, benched him for Jalen Hurts after bad play, and the rest is history. He was traded to the Colts for two picks. One may become a first-rounder in 2022.
